Written and directed by Academy Award® Nominee J.C. Chandor (Margin Call), ALL IS LOST follows the exhilarating journey of one man (Redford) fighting to survive.
A man is at the helm of his 18-meter sailboat on a solo voyage crossing the Indian Ocean. Highly skilled and well-prepared, he capably handles everything that is thrown at him, even when his boat is ripped apart by a massive container that falls off a passing cargo ship. As water floods the interior, the man surveys and repairs the damage with mastery and a level head.
But as one danger abates, another quickly appears on the horizon. A violent storm unleashes her fury on the man. This time he is no match for nature’s wrath, as raging winds and towering waves batter his boat and he is thrown overboard. As the mast snaps and a 25 foot wave destroys any remnant of his vessel, the man is left clinging to his life raft.
Stranded in the middle of the vast and seemingly endless ocean with no radio, no motor and no sail, the man quickly realizes that this is worse than any tussle with a storm. Much worse.
ALL IS LOST is a classic tale of a man pitted against the elements and a testament to the courage and fearlessness of humankind.
