On Tuesday, The Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced their nominees for the 23rd Critics' Choice Awards, including three FilmNation titles.
The Big Sick pulled in six nominations including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Holly Hunter), Best Original Screenplay, Best Comedy, Best Actor in a Comedy (Kumail Nanjiani) and Best Actress in a Comedy (Zoe Kazan).
Wonderstruck's breakout actress Millicent Simmonds and Gifted's Mckenna Grace were both recognized, each receiving a nomination for Best Young Actor/Actress.
In a press release, BFCA President Joey Berlin has the following to say about this year's nominees.
“The mix of legendary filmmakers and performers along with vibrant new voices representing fresh and varied styles and perspectives has entertained and challenged critics and audiences alike. It’s been a joy to experience these films and we can’t wait to celebrate them all on January 11th.”
It has been a tremendous year for new voices, especially among specialty films and we are honored to be considered among them.
