Bleecker Street Sets October Release Date for A Talent for Murder
July 14, 2026Bleecker Street has announced that A Talent for Murder will open in theaters on October 26 as part of the distributor's largest fall awards slate to date. The thriller joins a lineup that also includes Alex Gibney's documentary Musk, Mike Leigh's Tender Loving Care, and Guy Nattiv's upcoming drama starring Carrie Coon.
Directed by Anton Corbijn, A Talent for Murder stars Academy Award winner Helen Mirren, Alden Ehrenreich, and Olivia Cooke. Based on Joanna Murray-Smith's acclaimed 2014 play Switzerland, the film follows a young New York literary agent (Ehrenreich) who travels to Switzerland to persuade legendary author Patricia Highsmith (Mirren) to write one final Ripley novel. What begins as a straightforward assignment soon evolves into a tense psychological game between the two.
The screenplay was adapted by Murray-Smith, with the film produced by Gabrielle Tana, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, Jim Robison, Kurt Martin, Carolyn Marks Blackwood, Karl Spoerri, and Andrea Occhipinti. A Talent for Murder will be co-distributed by Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment following its premiere on the fall festival circuit.
The announcement positions the film as one of Bleecker Street's key prestige releases this awards season, with Mirren once again taking on a celebrated historical figure in what is expected to be one of the distributor's marquee theatrical releases this fall.
