Daisy Edgar-Jones and Emilia Jones to Star in ‘Bad Bridgets’ From ‘Kneecap’ Director Rich Peppiatt and LuckyChap, FilmNation Selling at AFM
October 31, 2025Daisy Edgar-Jones (Twisters, Sense & Sensibility) and Emilia Jones (CODA, Task) will lead Bad Bridgets, the next feature from BAFTA-winning filmmaker Rich Peppiatt (Kneecap).
Produced by LuckyChap Entertainment, the film will be written and directed by Peppiatt, with FilmNation handling international sales and launching the project at the American Film Market. WME Independent is repping U.S. rights.
The film draws inspiration from Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, developed with the support of Queen’s University Belfast. Set in 19th-century Ireland, the story follows two sisters who flee an abusive home and famine-stricken countryside for New York, where they join the ranks of notorious Irish immigrant women shaking up the city.
Peppiatt and his Kneecap producer Trevor Birney optioned the book earlier this year and are producing under their Coup d’État Films banner alongside LuckyChap. Production is slated for spring 2026 in Northern Ireland and Ireland, with Oscar-winning production designer James Price and costume designer Kate Hawley attached.
Peppiatt’s debut feature Kneecap — a wild Irish-language biopic about the Belfast rap trio — premiered at Sundance 2024, where it won the NEXT Audience Award. The film went on to become one of the most decorated debuts in BAFTA history, also taking home seven BIFAs, five IFTAs, and the London Critics Circle’s Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker prize. It was Ireland’s 2025 Oscar submission and made the international feature shortlist.
Peppiatt is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and MMB Creative. Edgar-Jones is represented by UTA, B-Side Management, Relevant, and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern. Jones is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the U.K.’s Artist Rights Group.
