Paramount has secured the rights to "Novocaine," an action-packed film with the potential for a franchise. The movie, set to star Jack Quaid from "The Boys" and Amber Midthunder, known for her outstanding performance in the Predator spinoff "Prey," is scheduled to commence production in April in South Africa.

Directed by Robert Olsen and Dan Berk, the film features a screenplay by Lars Jacobson. This project marks the inaugural venture for the FilmNation Entertainment production shingle Infrared.

The producers for "Novocaine" include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, along with Drew Simon from Infrared Pictures. Sam Speiser of Infrared and Matt Schwartz of Safehouse, along with Lars Jacobson, Paul Barbeau, Josh Adler, and Julian Rosenberg from Circle of Confusion, will serve as executive producers.

Jack Quaid will portray Nathan Caine, a sheltered bank executive with a unique genetic condition that renders him incapable of feeling physical pain when subjected to it. As his bank faces a robbery and one of his colleagues is kidnapped, Caine must step up, turning his supposed weakness into an unexpected strength. The film boasts a high-concept storyline akin to the successes of franchises like Die Hard and John Wick.

Olsen and Berk, who previously collaborated on "Significant Other" for Paramount+ with Maika Monroe and Jake Lacy in lead roles, are also responsible for the screenplay of "Novocaine."

FilmNation, in collaboration with CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group, handled the U.S. rights for the film. Jack Quaid is represented by UTA and Anonymous Content, while Amber Midthunder is represented by CAA and Corner Booth Entertainment. Lars Jacobson is affiliated with Paradigm, Circle of Confusion, and The Nord Group.
