Paul Dano Joins Cast of Florian Zeller’s Psychological Thriller ‘Bunker’
December 08, 2025Paul Dano has signed on to star in Bunker, the elevated psychological thriller from Oscar-winning filmmaker Florian Zeller, now two weeks into production.
Dano — whose recent work includes There Will Be Blood, The Batman, The Fabelmans, and the upcoming The Wizard of the Kremlin — joins an ensemble led by Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, with Stephen Graham and Patrick Schwarzenegger also starring.
Bunker marks Zeller’s highly anticipated follow-up to The Son, which competed at Venice and earned Hugh Jackman a Golden Globe nomination, and The Father, which won Oscars for Anthony Hopkins and for Zeller and Christopher Hampton’s adapted screenplay.
The film centers on a family whose lives begin to fracture as a mysterious construction project — a bunker commissioned by a powerful tech mogul — slowly encroaches on their world. Blending psychological tension with Zeller’s trademark emotional precision, the film is already positioned as a standout of the 2026 slate.
“We are thrilled to welcome Paul Dano to the cast,” Zeller said in a statement. “From Little Miss Sunshine to There Will Be Blood, Paul has consistently impressed me. He possesses an extraordinary singularity — something genuinely unique — and in that sense, he is truly irreplaceable.”
Bunker is produced by Blue Morning Pictures (part of Mediawan) and MOD Producciones, with filming underway in Madrid and London. International sales are handled by FilmNation Entertainment, with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent overseeing domestic rights.
