Stacey Snider Joins FilmNation Entertainment As Chief Creative Officer

December 16, 2025

Veteran studio executive Stacey Snider has been appointed Chief Creative Officer, marking a major new chapter for one of the industry’s most influential creative leaders.

Snider, who previously ran 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks, and Universal Pictures, will begin the role on January 5. She will immediately oversee an expansive slate of film and television projects, including Photograph 51, directed by Tom Hooper, and Possum Song, directed by Greg Kwedar.

The move reunites Snider with longtime collaborator Glen Basner, with whom she has shared a professional history dating back to her tenure at Universal, when she spearheaded the acquisition of the indie production company Good Machine, where Basner was then learning the ropes. The appointment places Snider squarely back in a hands-on creative leadership role, one that aligns closely with her reputation as a champion of filmmakers, writers, and ambitious storytelling.

Most recently, Snider spent four years partnering with Elisabeth Murdoch and Jane Featherstone to build the financier-producer Sister, further honing a skill set rooted in taste, development, and creative mentorship. Known throughout the industry as an avid reader of scripts and books, Snider has long been regarded as an executive deeply engaged in the material itself, not just its marketplace positioning.

Across her career, she has championed an extraordinary range of films, including Gladiator, The Fast and the Furious, Logan, The Martian, the Bourne series, Meet the Parents, Lincoln, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Beautiful Mind, The Post, Brokeback Mountain, and Hidden Figures. She has also helped train and elevate many of the industry’s most prominent executives.

Basner praised the hire, saying:

“Stacey brings next level creativity, leadership and experience to our team, further fueling our ambitious plans despite market climate. Her unparalleled track record speaks for itself. Hell yeah! We are going to have some fun!”

Snider, for her part, emphasized the creative alignment behind the move:

“Glen is a steadfast champion of independent filmmaking, building FilmNation into a home for bold storytellers. His commitment to creative risk-taking and thoughtfully financed, globally minded cinema has helped sustain and expand the space for independent voices on the world stage. I’m excited for the opportunity to join the extraordinary FilmNation team and to direct my energies and experience towards a mission that speaks to me so personally.”

Snider will report to Basner and join the company’s C-suite and strategic leadership group. Her appointment arrives at a moment of significant contraction and uncertainty across the industry, signaling renewed optimism around filmmaker-driven projects and a sustained investment in ambitious film and television storytelling.
