Scarlett Johansson, known for her roles in films like "Marriage Story" and the Avengers series, is set to lead the cast of the true-crime thriller "Featherwood," generating significant buzz ahead of the EFM market in Berlin next week.

Johansson will take on the role of Carol Blevins, a heroin addict and "Aryan Princess featherwood" (property of a gang member), in what some buyers are already considering an award-worthy performance. The character played a crucial role as one of the FBI's key informants during a six-year investigation into the Aryan Brotherhood Of Texas, a violent neo-Nazi crime and drug syndicate. Living with the gang, Blevins memorized details, preempted murders, and interrupted robberies, ultimately aiding in the conviction of 13 group members. However, her courageous journey left her with enduring physical and mental scars, living in constant fear of reprisal from the Aryan Brotherhood Of Texas.

The movie is based on Pulitzer Prize finalist Scott Farwell's award-winning six-part series in the Dallas Morning News. FilmNation is reportedly handling the sales for the project, which will be directed by Andrea Arnold, known for her impactful dramas such as "Fish Tank" and "Red Road." Arnold, director of Cannes Palme d’Or contender "American Honey," is currently in post-production on "Bird," starring Barry Keoghan.
