February 12, 2024

FilmNation Entertainment and Bleecker Street have announced a U.S. theatrical release date of June 14 for Julia von Heinz's drama "Treasure," which is set to world premiere as a Special Gala presentation at the Berlin Film Festival on February 17.

The film, starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, revolves around the journey of a daughter and father on a road trip in 1990s Poland. Ruth (played by Dunham), an American music journalist, accompanies her father Edek (Fry), a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a trip to his homeland. While Ruth seeks to understand her family's past, Edek has his own agenda for the journey.

Adapted from the bestselling autobiographical novel "Too Many Men" by Lily Brett, "Treasure" is the final installment in von Heinz's "Aftermath Trilogy," succeeding 2013's "Hanna’s Journey" and the 2020 German International Feature Oscar submission "And Tomorrow the Entire World." The screenplay, co-written by von Heinz and frequent collaborator John Quester, promises a poignant exploration of family history and personal discovery.

Bleecker Street and FilmNation, known for their successful collaborations on films like "Waitress: The Musical" and "Disobedience," are teaming up for the worldwide release of "Treasure." The partnership underscores their commitment to bringing compelling stories to a global audience.

FilmNation is also handling the distribution for the Berlin Film Festival opener, "Small Things Like These," a film starring and produced by Oppenheimer Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy.
